LIVIDUS was founded in 2017 in the rainy gloom of Portland, Oregon. Their debut Scarabaeus is a showcase of intricate metal that restores the eccentric spirit of the 90s to the modern era. Led by the incomparable vocal talent of Uta Plotkin (ex-Witch Mountain), the album highlights her trademark seamless interplay between hauntingly clean vocals and savage screams. The current lineup is a powerhouse effort from a team of PNW veterans, featuring Christy Cather (Ludicra), Rob Shaffer (Uada, Dark Castle), and Michael Thompson (ex-Silver Talon).

Lyrically, the album focuses on the endurance of trauma and its aftermath, delivering a sound that avoids modern technical trends in favor of an older, more adventurous spirit akin to Voivod, Hammers of Misfortune, Death, and Nevermore. This is a rare project that successfully bridges the gap between the heavy, the ethereal, and the dissonant through a weird and adventurous lens.
